Weird Winter & Chinese Tree Peonies

We are having very weird warm weather so far this winter. I live in Canadian Climate Zone 4a, and am quite worried about my favorite perennials. I have included a photo of the styrofoam rose cone that I used to cover one of my tree peonies with. The peonies have since grown too large to cover, so I am waiting to see what the spring brings. The next photo was taken in June 2006, of my 'Yachiyotsubaki' tree peony.

Canadian Canoe Museum

I visited the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough, Ontario this weekend. It was an amazing experience which I highly recommend! The canoe is a craft developed by our First Nations peoples, and was instrumental in allowing people to travel trade routes across Canada. The museum had exhibits with many kinds of canoes, kayaks and umiaks.

My husband Sid and I get out for canoe trips as often as possible. You can view his website which includes many of his gorgeous photos of trips in Northern Ontario: www.CanoeDog.ca
